It’s going to vary, of course, from sub-group to sub-group, but the people I’m talking about tend to see their culture as a reflection of their values, and that their values — which frequently focus on traditional gender roles, nationalism, versions of autarky, and a belief in the supremacy of an imagined white European cultural superiority — are what the rest of America’s culture is drifting away from.
